Quiche is a savoury open faced pastry filled with eggs, cheese and vegetables.
- Prep Time: 10 minutes
- Cook Time: 40 minutes
- Total Time: Under 1 hour
Pastry Ingredients
Buy pre-made pastry or make your own.
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup oil
- 1/4 water
Mixture Ingredients
- 3 beaten eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup cheese (any)
- ham or bacon bits
- salt & pepper to taste
Method
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees
- For the pastry, mix the wet ingredients into the dry and roll out into a pie shape. Grease (butter and flour) your pan, then lay out the pastry along the bottom of your 9″ quiche dish, making sure to cover the sides.
- mix eggs, milk, cheese and ham, and pour into dish and bake for 40 minutes, and voila!
- Try onions, garlic, leeks, mushrooms, peppers, as you would a pizza on top of your quiche before baking. In France we often put tuna or salmon into quiche, especially in the south being so close to the Mediterranean Sea.
Eva’s Tip: Add extra cheese on top before cooking
