After a misunderstanding with our property manager as to when our next guests arrive at our Budapest rental apartment, we find ourselves at the Stáció Wellness Centre for one night and a dreamy half-day!

Budapest Airport Hotel Stáció Wellness & Conference has an indoor poola steam room, and a sauna. It has complimentary wireless and wired high-speed Internet access. Dining options at this Vecses hotel include a restauranta poolside bar, and a bar/lounge. A complimentary breakfast is served each morning. The staff can arrange tour/ticket assistance and event catering. Additional amenities include a rooftop terracespa services, and a fitness facilityGuest parking is complimentary, and available on a limited first-come, first-served basis. A total renovation of this property was completed in 2011.

The 75 air-conditioned guestrooms at Budapest Airport Hotel Stacio Wellness & Conference include safes and hair dryers. Televisions are equipped with cable channels. In addition, a turndown service is offered nightly, housekeeping is available daily, and amenities available on request include hypoallergenic bedding. All guestrooms at Budapest Airport Hotel Stacio Wellness & Conference are non-smoking.

Far outside our normal budget, we splurged on a self-indulgent day of relaxation and play.

After a morning of cleaning the Walnut apartment for our newly arriving guests, I strained my back, and Alfonz arranged a massage for me once we arrived at the Stáció Hotel. Thanks Alfonz, you always know what’s best for me!

Daniel loved the Koi Pond

The kids loved running around the pond, loaded with Koi fish, a few frogs and a turtle. It turns out to be all the entertainment my kids need.

Daniel and Angelina took full advantage of the indoor pool too, while Alfonz relaxed poolside with his favourite Hungarian crossword puzzle.

Massage time

I spent a half hour in the dry infrared sauna, and then enjoyed, ‘Agnes’, the lovely massage lady on duty, for almost an hour and a half. She was excellent!

My stressed muscles were feeling much better after a good stretch, a warm sauna and a deep tissue massage, focussing on my lower back, neck and feet.

Relaxation was the key, and that is exactly what we found at the Wellness Hotel.

I recommend Agnes’s services to anyone wishing to stay at the centre. I left feeling like a million bucks!

Alfonz’s cousin Angela and her husband Akos, who are also Angelina’s god parents, joined us for dinner in the onsite restaurant called the Pipacs which translates to ‘the poppy’.

This prestigious dining establishment offers the finest seasonal items known in the region. The world-renowned Hungarian beef stew, or goulash soup, or pork medallions in truffle sauce are a few items that caught my eye on the menu that made picking a difficult.

The kids enjoyed a schnitzel, especially made for them, that was reasonably priced for such a high-end restaurant.

Apple roasted goose liver, with cranberry drizzle, and a potato pie was my treat.

Alfonz and Angi enjoyed a traditional roast duck breast, pink in the middle browned on the outside with a cabbage stuffed phyllo pastry, enough to make your mouth water.

For the lighter appetite, Akos had a Caesar salad with grilled chicken.

They served us toast and herb infused butter to start.

Sadly, we were too full for dessert, but we saw many people enjoy crepes and cakes from the kitchen.

We highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to or through Hungary. Many pilots stay here during their over night stay in Budapest, making a nice break from the everyday hotels, in the same price range but giving its visitors so much more.
